Top Hat - Better Learning App Reviews

Revolutionary educational software. A constructive criticism for the Mobile app and Ipad app - a landscape view would be nice. When I participate in discussions and I have to set my IPad down to type in landscape, I have to read off the screen in portrait view, so I have to tilt my head to the side or somehow balance it. Even still the response box senses the landscape orientation, but the question in the background doesnt! Its awkward... Other than that, which is a quick tweak I imagine, it has really helped me get the most of the course Im taking.

My Professor uses this to see where the class is at in terms of understanding the material.

Connection drops to much

This is the bane of the U of C. Theres a proximity setting where, if youre not close enough to the class, you cant answer the questions (even though answering the questions only gives me participation marks in class, regardless of whether Im right). My professor is terrible, but I cant sit at home and teach myself the course material from the textbook because of this damn app.

Ipad version does not support landscape rotation; Took 3 days to activate account... silly software

Works great. However, I do not like that its case sensitive, and its quite expensive.

Following Latest update, the app no longer works. Freezes upon opening.

The app is frozen after the update, it wont even sign in! I need it for the exams, please fix it soon!

As a student I think Top Hat is best of the classroom assistants available out there. Keep talking to your profs and teachers, they have great ideas for thing to be added. Theres always room for new and improved features.

Literally the worst app ever, why should we have to pay for your garbage app. I hope this gets taken out of every university curriculum.

This app is just a scam for profs to get some commission dollars.

The app itself is not terrible. Only main complaint I have is that its a nuisance to view lectures through Top Hat. In terms of other things, the ability to have discussions through the program as well as the possibility of being quizzed (also registers attendance) is rather useful. HOWEVER, the program itself is essentially pointless because lectures are posted separately online through the course website where there is also a feature to have a discussion. As for the quizzes, my university already had us purchase "iClicker" which accomplishes that task in class. Having to make this purchase for class seems like a waste of money since the tasks that it is used for could have already been completed with resources that we already had.

This app was a waste of money, confusing to use and ultimately did not help me whatsoever in any class. Not a fan. It was also incredibly difficult to take part in quizzes because of the apps constant delay. Absolutely atrocious to use.

Wont let me sign into my account even though all my information is correct

I cant believe I had to pay for this garbage for a class. Never connects, terrible UI, and newest update just caused the app to be unusable. 0/5

Ive had no problems with this app in class... prof is using it for attendance and questions

I am happy, I like the app. Its pretty nice :)
